My Summer! (by: Livi)

My summer has been so full! Since the start of May I've had it all planned out and it's just been go, go, go, but it's also been a ton of fun! I started it out the night of graduation and headed to Washington D.C.!! It was so much fun. My whole class went and we had a blast! If you haven't been you should definitely go. Not only did I learn a ton, but I gained a greater appreciation for our country and all of those who have fought for our freedom.

Us 4 met this Navajo Codetalker that was in the Memorial Day Parade!

Mariah, Beau, Chandler and I got to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier for Memorial Day weekend.

My first look at the Capitol building!

Meeting Senator Barasso! He was way cool.

Some of my class at the White House

Then I went to Girl's State and I learned a ton there and met a lot of awesome girls!

Sad/happy day, Sulli left on his mission to San Bernardino, California!

Then I had some camps and stuff and then for the BIG trip...Costa Rica!! It is so beautiful there and I had a ton of fun. We went there on a spanish club trip and took about 24 students and 14 adults. Everyone had a great time! I loved the resort we stayed at and all the excursions we went on. But I will say I was glad to get back to America where I could understand what people were saying...haha
Part of our resort! It was so nice!

Volcano Arenal

Culture Shock!

Madi and I in downtown San Jose!

A huge crocodile!

Tessa, my mom and I went to Alaska! We were gone for 16 days, and it was 16 days of FUN! I loved hanging out with all my cousins. There was hardly ever a dull moment. My grandparents also had their 60th wedding anniversary party while we were up there so that was way cool! The highlight of the trip was probably the last day though! I went with my Uncle Dave up to Brook's Falls and got to watch all the bears fish! It was amazing!

Tessa, Annie, and I at Matanuska Glacier

There were 13 at one time!

Just like the movies!

4 cubs!

Saying goodbye!

I just got back yesterday from an awesome Daddy-Daughters trip to Phoenix Arizona. My dad took us 5 girls down there to a Phoenix Mercury game and we did some fun things along the way. It was just so fun even though we are all so spread out in age that we could still have so much in common and still have such a great time. I love my family!
All of us at the Mercury game!

And now after all that fun it's the last week of summer and two-a-day's start next Monday. I've got a lot to do this week, but I wouldn't have changed any of these experiences for anything! I'm sure I won't have the opportunity to do some of these things ever again and I just hope I'm able to remember everything that I've learned and seen.

State Track

Holy Moly! I haven't blogged in forever it seems. People probably think I've died or something. But I didn't die, I just got sorta lazy. But there are a lot of things I could blog about but first I want to blog about State Track.
Many of you already know that our girl's track team won State Track. It is a miracle that we won. We won by 1.5 points, that's like winning with a buzzer beater! We only had eight girls on our team, so we all get to say that we had to be part of the team, or we wouldn't have won. Without just one girl we would have lost. Every girl ran or threw their personal bests in ever single race. We all got our bests in prelims, and we thought, how can we do better than that in the finals tomorrow? Somehow we did though. The running conditions weren't really the best either on the last day when all the finals were, we were in a hurricane. But that hurricane was a blessing in disguise. At the time we were like, 'dang! I don't want to run in this wind!' But because of our training we were stronger than the other girls and we pushed through the wind wall and the pain and pulled out with our best times in everything.
Going into the last race, the 4x400 meter relay we knew that we had to take first and Gurnsey had to take third or we would lose. After Ashbee crossed the finish line and then we saw Snake River come in after us and Gurnsey a split second behind them, Katelyn and Olivia and Ashbee started screaming and jumping, and it took me a second before I said this. "Hey guys, does this mean we win the whole thing?" and they were like "Yeah! Or else we wouldn't be so excited!" It was such an exciting day! I am still amazed that we won!
That was the story that everyone knows. But their is a story behind the miracle of us winning, that most people don't know. I feel like we aren't the only champions, we are co-champions with our Heavenly Father. Without him blessing our lives, we would not have won. Saturday after we won and were changing before we got on the bus, this part of the story surfaced. Katelyn and Olivia had finished The Book of Mormon on Friday night in their hotel room. Sierra and Celinda had finished it earlier in the season. Ashbee, Hannah, and I also had finished during the school year, and were either reading it again or reading in another part of the scriptures. Ana Cook had two chapters left which she finished the last week of school. In seminary this year, we studied The Book of Mormon and we all took the challenge to read it. Friday night in my room, Ashbee, Ana, Hannah, and I decided to have "family prayer and scriptures" and together we looked up scriptures about faith and courage and scriptures we thought would help us in our events the next day. In the other room, like I said, Olivia and Katelyn had finished The Book of Mormon and the four girls in their room were talking about it. In the night, Katelyn said that she woke up and couldn't fall back asleep because of the excitement of it all, and instead of just lying their awake, she opened her scriptures. She said that every scripture that she turned to was about faith, or trusting in the Lord, or how by doing what is right, we are blessed not only spiritually but temporally as well. And she said that those scriptures helped her. I feel like all of the girls on our team were trying to do what is right and we feel like we were blessed that day with the championship because He recognized that we were striving to do what is right.
So many things were great about that day, like that we scored 120 points at regionals, and 116 at state. Only 4 points difference, that never happens. Or that the 26 consecutive years of having a banner hung around the gym, was done again for the 27th time, or that without a single member of our team, we would have lost. But I feel like the best part of the track season and that state track meet was that I was always surrounded by people that were trying to do what is right and not ashamed of it. That we could talk about our experiences that we had had and not be embarrassed. You know, I will always remember this time because of those experiences that we had together.

Election Week...

at Cokeville High School is so fun!! This was my first year participating, but it was Tessa's third. She's been campaign manager for the secretary position ever since 7th grade. And she's won everytime. Her first year she was campaign manager for Dallen Fiscus(for secretary), and last year she was Celinda Teichert's campaign manager(for secretary). And this year, I was lucky enough to have her as my campaign manager(for secretary again...haha). We had a great time coming up with ideas, and just spending time together. I had two goals for the week. They were #1. To not get stressed, and #2. To have fun. Well, I accomplished both of those, and won, so it was pretty much a great week! Here are the posters we came up with...

This one was really cool, but the picture is kinda messed up.

On this day we for our hand out we gave out pieces of orbit gum, and it was a pretty big hit.

This week was a ton of fun. Thanks for all the ideas and help family!
(Oh, and we did a fun skit, the phobia skit, but Tessa had the camera in the pocket of her dress, so mom wasn't able to take any pictures, haha, but it was really funny, and you can watch the same one, just with different people on youtube.)

Mylie and Me

So after Aunt Linda was done making my prom dress there was some left over material. Just enough to make Mylie a super-cute, same-same dress. So, Aunt Linda and her mad-sewing skills made Mylie this adorable dress. Then Mylie came one evening and we had a "princess party" and we did our hair and took pictures in our matching dresses. I had a fun time, and I'm pretty sure Mylie did too. We'll have to have another princess party soon!

Ode to Hair

Ode to Hair

Thick or thin,
Long or short,
Hair is hair,
So be a good sport.

You're brown and pretty,
Some little kid needs,
Hair to feel happy,
It was a good deed.

So though I will miss you,
You've been a good friend,
You'll soon be a wig,
Self Confidence you'll mend.

This is why I donated my hair. I feel like I can grow long pretty hair, and some people don't have hair, so I might as well help them. When I start to get sad or discouraged, I just think how happy some little girl will be and it's all ok. Here are some pictures of my hair cut.

Here I am with Traci. I'm excited and nervous!
Before we cut off the braids.
Me holding my braids. (I didn't cry like last time :)
The braids :)
Before the styling process.
Getting the cut.
Now the style.
The hair that's not braids :)
My hair do :)
And a Back View!

Now I have to learn how to do it myself. That's always the hardest with me. I like the style, although, I do miss my long hair. It was time for a change of pace, and I like it!
